FS 2.0L Engine Building Guide

K1 Long rod and Wiseco 8.8 to 1 Compression
.020 overbore piston set

  • Improves rod ratio from 1.467 to 1.491
  • WHAT THIS MEANS:: A higher rod ratio cause the pistons move from TDC slower, the entire bottom end absorbs less mechanical stress.
  • Only available with .020 overbore pistons, 8.8 compression for those wanting to boost high on a larger turbo
  • Piston skirts are available in coated or uncoated.
    3 sets of uncoated and 1 set coated are available as of 4-30-10

TECH TIPS:
Head Gasket Compression #'s using Wiseco pistons. Comp ratios will be different if you mill the cylinder head or deck the block.

  • .030 will be stock 9.1 to 1
  • .045 will be approx 8.9 to 1
  • .051 will be approx 8.8 to 1
  • .060 will be approx 8.6 to 1
  • .074 will be approx 8.4 to 1

For the specs on the rod bolts and ARP studs, use the supplied specs from the manufacturer NOT the OEM Mazda specs, but do use the Mazda sequence.

ARP studs require you to tighten in stages and to tighten and loose at least 3 times before final torque.

TECH TIP:
If you are building an engine (short block), and do not plan on building the head, get this at the very least to refresh your valve seals so they will be new like the rest of your engine. If you skip on this your valve seals may leak in the future. This is a cheap insurance so you won't have to do this later and rip the cylinder head off again.
